Kirsty and Nev clearly love each other very much and never stopped kissing, holding hands and sending each other loving looks. We wish them a long and very happy marriage, and look forward to showing them the rest of the photos when they are back from honeymoon.

Kirsty & Nev, South Queensferry Parish Church and Houston House, Uphall
We do love winter weddings, and none better than when the air is crisp and the ground covered in snow. So we were very excited as we headed to South Queensferry for the wedding of Kirsty and Nev - and we weren't disappointed! After a very personal and lovely service in Kirsty's parents' local church, we headed to take some photos by the Forth Road Bridges and then onto Houston House, where the snow was lying thickly. Nev was a true gentleman and carried his new wife through the snow.
Kirsty and Nev clearly love each other very much and never stopped kissing, holding hands and sending each other loving looks. We wish them a long and very happy marriage, and look forward to showing them the rest of the photos when they are back from honeymoon.

Jennie & David, St Peter's Church, Edinburgh and Harburn House, West Lothian
Autumn is such a beautiful time of year to photograph weddings - the colours around us are so vibrant and life affirming. So it was a real pleasure to photograph Jennie and David as they walked through the stunning grounds of Harburn House, surrounded by bright red, yellow, green and brown foliage.
Earlier in the day, the warm red interior of St Peter's Church had been the setting for a beautiful wedding ceremony. Jennie and her maids arrived at the church full of smiles and giggles. They were dressed in cool blues and greens, which off-set the warm autumn colours perfectly.
The whole day Jennie and David and their guests never seemed to stop smiling - it was a truly happy day!
We wish the beautiful couple a long and happy marriage - may the glowing autumn colours always remind them of this happy day!

Alice & Philip, Canongate Kirk and Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh
After photographing Alice's sister Lucy's wedding in 2007, we were delighted when Alice contacted us and asked her to photograph her wedding this year.
On a beautiful, sunny and windy autumn day Alice and Philip were married in the beautiful Canongate Kirk on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh and had their wedding reception in The Royal College of Physicians.
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing Alice and her family again (and all the latest little additions!) and wish Alice and Philip a great honeymoon and a long and happy marriage!

Kate & Ben, Echt Parish Church & Coos' Cathedral, Aboyne Castle
When Kate and Ben first asked us to photograph their wedding, we were delighted to say yes - having been recommended to them by three other lovely couples, we knew it would be a wedding that would be too good to miss.
Kate and Ben are widely known for their love of good food, good company and good parties, all of which were there in abundance on the sunniest and warmest day Deeside has seen for a long time.
After a lovely service in Echt Parish Church, the couple and their guests headed off to Aboyne Castle, where the reception and dinner were held in the aptly named Coos' Cathedral, which had been decorated with the couple's impeccable sense of style and flair.
The day went without a hitch and the smiles never left the faces of the couple or their many guests.
As this was Ditte's last wedding before going off on maternity leave, we were so pleased to end her season on a high.
We wish Kate and Ben much happiness in the future, and look forward to showing them the rest of the photographs!

Heart-warming letters
It's been a lovely week to deal with the post in the office, with many messages of thanks coming in from couples and their families as well as from other suppliers.
Here are a couple that really made us smile:
"We wanted to say a HUGE thank you to you for all your help and hard work for our wedding photography. The photos are fantastic and we are so very pleased with them. Now we just have to decide which ones to frame! We felt very lucky to have you as our photographers and you put everyone at easy brilliantly. Thank you for accommodating all our last minute requests on the day and for all the time you took with the planning beforehand. We really did have the best day of our lives, so thank you for all the photographic memories. Wishing you all the best for the future (we'll be recommending you to everyone!)
Lots of love, Mally & Ross"
"We have just spent the last hour and a half in stunned silence... The photographs are just absolutely amazing and we could not be happier!!! We knew from the moment we first made contact with yourselves that we had picked the perfect pair. I can not believe how you guys have captured our special day so beautifully.
Thank you...
M & M"
We feel incredibly lucky to have such wonderful jobs, meeting lovely people, doing what we love and get THANKED for it.

Michelle & Michael, Loretto School, Musselburgh
Choosing the venue for their wedding must have been one of the easy decisions to make for Michelle and Michael - Michael works at Loretto School in Musselburgh and the couple live within the grounds. And it was a choice that really paid off; from the service in the chapel, the walk along the leafy path to the beautiful library where the reception took place and the colourful garden which we chose for the photographs, the day went perfectly and the smiles never left the faces of the happy couple and their guests.
With perfect weather, a beautiful couple and a great venue, the day was a real pleasure for us to photograph.
We wish Michelle and Michael a happy honeymoon and hope theirs will be a long and happy marriage.

Freja Dress Designer shoot
We've long been a fan of Mette Baillie of Freya Dress Designer's beautiful dresses after having photographed many of her creations on happy brides over the years. So we were delighted to oblige when she asked us to capture a number of her latest creations.
With the dresses gracing the figure of Miss Scotland finalist Rebecca Irving and accessories from Rachel Scott, it was a true pleasure to capture.
We've attached some of our favourite photos from the day and look forward to the bridesmaid's dresses shoot!

Joanne & Jamie, Kenmore Kirk & Castle Menzies, Weem
When Jamie was a boy, he spent many happy times in and around Kenmore on holiday, so when he and Joanne had to choose a venue for their wedding, they decided on Kenmore Kirk, nestling on the shore of Loch Tay and the historical Castle Menzies in nearby Weem.
Here guests we treated to a wide selection of Scottish weather - from fierce rain and wind to bright sunshine and warmth, starting with warm, sunny weather as they arrived at the kirk.
Joanne arrived in style - two vintage Citroens took her, her father and maids to the ceremony. After a beautiful service the couple jumped straight into the waiting car to avoid the downpour and headed back to Castle Menzies, where the rain was still pouring down. Joanne and Jamie were happy to step out of the car for a photograph, sheltered under a white umbrella.
After a champagne reception in the castle, the rain eased off and everyone was invited onto the lawn for a big group photograph, where guests finally had a chance to shower the couple in confetti! As guests made their way in to dinner, we took advantage of the dry weather and took a few more photos of the couple.
The couple and their guests were treated to a speech by Joanne's father and a beautiful dinner by Gill Orde in Catering before being invited to an adjoining room to hear Jamie's very touching speech. This was followed by a beautiful and very personal poem written and read by Joanne's sister and then a funny "double act" speech by the two best men before the couple cut the wedding cake.
The couple then invited guests to join them on the dance floor for reeling and dancing, with music and calling by the very talented Callanish.
We wish Joanne and Jamie a long and happy marriage and look forward to showing them all the photographs once they're back from honeymoon!

Leigh & Angus, Calder Kirk and Harburn House, West Calder
From the minute we met Leigh and Angus, we knew this wedding was going to be anything but boring! They both have a fantastic sense of humour and an irreverence that kept us smiling and laughing all day and night.
After a church service full of laughter and tears, the couple and their guests were driven to Harburn House, where they enjoyed champagne, canapes and hilarious slide shows by the bride and groom's friends. Foreign guests were able to experience the Scottish weather phenomenon of "Four Seasons In One Day", with hail, rain, wind, blue skies, sun and warmth all making appearances throughout the day.
After a great dinner and five funny and touching speeches (including Angus serenading his new wife!) the couple opened the evening's dancing with an impressive first dance, received with rapturous applause from guests.
With over 200 friends and family attending from all over the world, Leigh and Angus and their families had put a lot of effort into putting on a great bash, and guests were more than willing to help make it a happy and memorable occasion, drinking, laughing and dancing the night away.
We would like to thank Leigh and Angus for having us at their wedding and wish them a long and happy life together. If their wedding day is anything to go by, theirs will be a life full of laughter and fun.

Sophie & Ben, Ardtornish House
When Sophie and Ben asked us to photograph their wedding, we were delighted, as we knew there would be a lot of familiar faces among the guests. We had already met them at two weddings last year, and were thrilled to get the chance to photograph this tall, handsome couple.
The wedding was held in Ardtornish House in the magnificent Ardtornish Estate, and with the blessings of the weather gods, they couldn't have picked a finer venue.
Sophie wore a lovely silk duchesse satin dress, with simple, clean lines made by Freja Designer Dressmaker, which truly complemented her beautiful figure.
The ceremony was held in Kiel Kirk by Lochaline, where the couple exchanged their vows watched by a full house of friends and family.
Back at Ardtornish House, we photographed Sophie and Ben in the magnificent grounds while guests enjoyed the champagne, sunshine and beautiful venue.
After being treating to a fantastic dinner, guests danced the night away in the capable hands of the Jammy Devils.
We wish Sophie and Ben all the best of luck and lots of love in their married life together - they are truly lovely people who become even lovelier in the company of each other.

Mally & Ross, Dunblane Cathedral and Easter Ross, Comrie
The planning of the wedding of Mally and Ross was a feat of long-distance organising. Mally's parents normally reside in the Cayman Isles and the couple currently live in Hong Kong, so it was a testimont to their planning skills that the wedding went ahead in their house near Comrie without a hitch!
Mally looked absolutely stunning in a beautiful, traditional wedding dress, which she accesorised with a pair of scarlet heels. She was driven to the church by her father in his vintage Alvis - with the roof down! A few showers along the way to the church did nothing to stop her smiling or looking anything but gorgeous.
After a very emotional service in Dunblane Cathedral, the couple celebrated in the sunshine with friends and family before driving off in the back of another Alvis.
On the way to the reception we stopped at Langside just outside Comrie for a few photographs of the couple amidst the sun-spotted rolling hills.
Back at the house, guests were treated to oysters and guinness or strong, sweet tea before being invited in to the marquee, which had been decorated with tropic plants and bold colours.
After three hilarious speeches and a first-class meal, the couple started off the dancing with an Orcadian "Strip the Willow".
We wish Mally and Ross much love and happiness together, wherever in the world they may end up!

Leigh & Angus engagement photos
We're off to photograph the wedding of Leigh and Angus today in the beautiful setting of Harburn House near West Lothian.
While meeting them to discuss the finer details of the day and to have a look at the venue with them, we took the opportunity to get the gorgeous couple in front of the camera for a couple of pictures - a place they're clearly very much at ease! While walking through the fields of daffodils, the couple couldn't help stopping to kiss or share a laugh - even practicing a few dance moves!
We are incredibly excited about photographing their big day and keep our fingers crossed for a bit of dry weather.
Below are a few of our favourites from the pre-wedding shoot.

Angela & Craig, Achnagairn House, Inverness
After photographing Angela's sister Nichola's wedding in 2007, we were honoured to be asked to photograph Angela and Craig's wedding this year. We'd been looking forward to this day for some time, remembering the fun we had at Nichola's wedding - and we weren't disappointed; the Kane sisters really know how to put on a grand party!
Angela and Craig started planning their wedding in 2007, choosing to organise and pay personal attention to every little detail themselves, so it was no wonder that when the big day arrived, everything was calm, beautiful and just perfect. Even the weather gods had been appeased and blessed the day with warmth and sun despite the gloomy weather reports.
The service went smoothly and there wasn't a dry eye in the room when the couple exchanged their vows.
After drinking champagne in the beautiful grounds of Achnagairn house, guests were invited into the grand hall, where they were treated to four funny speeches and a fantastic dinner.
We left feeling happy and pleased to have been part of this wonderful day.
We wish all happiness to Angela and Craig and look forward to showing them the rest of the photographs when they are back from honeymoon.

Spring has sprung!
As we're finally daring to put the winter coat away and come out from under the hat, scarf and gloves, we're really excited about the longer nights and trees and gardens coming back to life around us.
This time of year is synonymous with the beginning of the wedding season and, as always, we're really excited to be back capturing happy couples on their big day.
We've been through our archives and found some of our favourite spring wedding photos - summing up the emerging light, colour and (yes - even in Scotland!) warmth of this time of year.

Susan McKenna & Jim Campbell, Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh
Our first wedding of the year was in the beautiful Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. While Susan was getting ready in her grand suite, surrounded by her maid, flowergirls and friends, Jim turned up at the hotel in his swish sky-blue convertible and headed for the bar with his ushers.
They were married in the hotel with the spring sun flooding the room.
After the ceremony we went off to take a few photos around the hotel and the couple then joined their guests for a champagne reception, before being invited in to the wedding breakfast by the MC.
We wish Susan and Jim all the best in their marriage and look forward to showing them the rest of the photographs!

Ending our 2008 Highlights are our favourite dance photographs. After a happy day, a good dinner and free-flowing wine, the dancing at a wedding is usually fantastic. We love capturing the love, laughter and beautiful lighting on dancefloors across the country.

Sometimes the smallest details can tell the best stories. Whether it's a freshly-poured glass of champagne, the best man mulling over his speech or a musician engrossed in their art.
We love capturing these little details to tell a bigger, more colourful story of a perfect day. Here are a few of the details that have helped make the memories of the day more vivid:

2008 highlights: Smile!
Although very few people like to pose and smile for the camera, on a wedding day there is so much to be happy about that most people just can't stop smiling. We love to capture those natural moments where couples or guests burst out laughing or flash big, infectious grins.
It proved a hard task to choose our favourites from 2008, as there were simply too many pictures that made us smile, so here is a small selection of pictures we hope will put a smile on your lips too.

2008 highlights: Flower Power
One of the most enjoyable tasks when organising a wedding, must surely be to choose the flowers - from the bride's bouquet to the church flowers and the decorations to go on the tables. We've seen so many beautiful flowers over the years, with lots of thought and effort gone into their arrangement, and we're happy to share some of our favourites from 2008 with you here:
